As an avid collector of Arts and Crafts furniture and artifacts since college, this client first purchased a 1914 Craftsman bungalow with the dream of eventually building her own Arts and Crafts residence. After finding the perfect location atop a mountain in rural Connecticut with magnificent views of the countryside, the design process began. Combining details taken from the 1914 bungalow along with typical craftsman detailing a simple design was created. Working within a tight budget, the project spanned a few years, and many materials used were either from the owner's personal collection or reclaimed from another home in the area which was under renovation. In addition, stone blasted from the site will be used for masonry work in and around the home. The total square footage is 1,650 with a building budget of approximately $120 per square foot.
